Sao Paulo city
If you are here on business, you will probably be coming to São Paulo, the industrial heart of Brazil and the capital of the state of Sao Paulo. Located on a hilly plateau about 800 meters altitude, and 60 Kms from the ocean, Sao Paulo has a pretty hot summer and mild winters. The temperature in the evening cools off almost always, and sometimes it gets a little uncomfortable in the winter, but it almost never freezes, and absolutely never snows. So you should plan to dress lightly, and bring some medium warm clothes that you can remove during the day when the sun is out.

The "Paulistas" are the people living in Sao Paulo and they have a great selection of movie theaters, theaters, bars and restaurants to go in the evening and on weekends. Also there are two lakes in Sao Paulo where fishing and boating is practiced on weekends.

Santos and Guaruja Beaches
For the business traveler there are mainly the restaurants for his free time entertainment, but if you have a little extra time, you can drive to the ocean.

There are beautiful beaches on the state's shoreline, and they are really not very far. Santos and Guarujá are very close, just an hour and a half, but therefore somewhat crowded, but if you drive a little further north up the coast you will get to some of the most wonderful beaches in the world ( I am a Paulista myself, but I am not bragging, it is true). The mountains covered by green impenetrable jungle are very close to the ocean, and sometimes right to the edge of the water, which makes the scenery specially attractive.

São Sebastião, Ilhabela, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba Beaches
Right across the small city of São Sebastião, there is the magnificent island of Ilhabela. The ferryboat takes you and your car across the channel in 20 minutes.

The coastal road winds along beautiful beaches and hils covered by jungle from Caraguatatuba to Ubatuba (50 Kms) and then on to Paraty (another 70 Kms). There are hotels and beach houses all along this road where the people from Sao Paulo spend their summer vacations and weekends.
